Author Biography

Michael G. Pratt

Michael G. Pratt is the O’Connor Family Professor and Ph.D. director for management and
organization in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. His interests include how
individuals connect with the work that they do as well as to the organizations, professions, occupations,
and other collectives in which they find themselves. His recent research projects center on
meaningful work, collective ambivalence, professional identity work, and the social construction
of trust among firefighters. His work has appeared in various outlets including the Academy of
Management Journal, the Administrative Science Quarterly, the Organization Science, and in
numerous edited books.
