Abstract

This paper examines the phenomenon of anti-Semitism in the Muslim world, shedding light on one component of the Islamic tradition, namely, the earliest extant biography of the Prophet Muhammad, the Sirat Rasul Allah, or The Life of the Prophet of God by Ibn Ishaq (d.767 CE.)

Joseph Spoerl, Saint Anselm College
Joseph S. Spoerl is a Professor in the Philosophy Department at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. He holds BA and MA degrees from Boston University and MA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto. He has published in such journals as Comparative Islamic Studies, the Journal of Conflict Studies, the Journal for the Study of Antisemitism, and the American Journal of Jurisprudence.
