This paper is a historiography which examines historiography surrounding Nixon's visit to China. This paper discusses the dominate narrative regarding why Nixon pursued a visit to China. This essay also covers why Mao and China were welcoming to American politicians following the political freeze that had rised after the Korean War. The first reason being the Sino-Soviet split, the second being the divides produced by factionalism in China.
