Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format (.doc or .docx).
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

After registering,

  • from "user home," click on "new submission" towards the right side of the page
  • select "Articles" or "Book Reviews" as the journal section, complete the submission checklist
  1. additionally, use footnotes, not endnotes, and follow The ChicagoManual of Style.
  2. keep article submissions between 2,500-6,000 words and bookreviews between 1,200-1,500 words and published in the past fiveyears.
  • upload your paper (make sure identifying information is REMOVED)
  • enter your title and abstract
  • skip the supplementary files page
  • finish your submission.


In addition to the general submission requirements,

  • use footnotes, not endnotes, and follow The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • keep submissions between 2,500-6,000 words.
