Anarchy and Exploitation in Scientific Communication

Abstract


In the very recent past, scientific publication was largely in the hands of university publishers and nonprofit scientific societies, most of which were controlled by the academic community. This article explores the consequences of anarchy and exploitation in the communication of the scholarly enterprise.
