EL OBJETO INDUSTRIAL Y SU RECICLAJE ESTÉTICO EN EL ARTE FOTOGRÁFICO DE DANIEL CANOGAR

Abstract

Since at least the 1970s, the world has recognized the effects of environmental degradation. Attempts to reverse this devastating process have permeated various areas of human activity, including art. Contemporary artists have restored dialogue in the materiality of their creations to rethink the problematic relationship of human beings with their environment. This work analyzes the photographic work Other Geologies (2005), by the Spanish artist Daniel Canogar, with the aim of reflecting on both the aesthetics of recycling discarded industrial objects as well as their symbolic reinterpretation in the space of the gallery. As we will observe, in Canogar's work the industrial object is de-automatized from its daily and residual use to be inserted into a space of contemplation in which it is reordered and redefined.

Resumen

Desde la década de los años setenta el mundo comenzó a reconocer los efectos de la catástrofe ambiental que azota el planeta. Los intentos por revertir este proceso devastador han permeado ya diversas áreas de acción, una de ellas ha sido la del campo artístico. Los artistas contemporáneos han restituido en la materialidad de sus creaciones una vía de diálogo para repensar la problemática relación del hombre con su medio. En el presente trabajo se analiza la obra fotográfica Otras Geologías (2005) del artista español Daniel Canogar con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre el reciclaje estético del objeto industrial desechado y su reinterpretación simbólica en el espacio de la galería. Como observaremos, en la obra de Canogar el objeto industrial se desautomatiza de su uso cotidiano y residual para insertarse en un espacio de contemplación en el que se reordena y reviste de un nuevo sentido.
